Qualifications necessary: High school diploma or GED; experience working with children; pass a background check; fingerprints on file
Desirable attributes: Bilingual Spanish/English; Montessori experience or training; classroom experience; post-secondary education; administrative skills; excellent communication skills; kind and peaceful nature; teachable spirit; joyful attitude; musical; flexible and willing to improvise when necessary; knowledge of Love and Logic philosophy; Special Education experience
The Lower Elementary Assistant provides support to the Lead Guide and staff, offering help and instruction to students in one-on-one or small group settings (and possibly a guided conversational Spanish class for the elementary school). The assistant will receive on-the-job training in Montessori curriculum and instruction, as well as will likely be asked to complete some Montessori assistant coursework at the expense of Joyful Scholars. The assistant also provides recess supervision and cleaning duties, on rotation with the Upper Elementary Assistant.

Joyful Scholars is the only preschool through high school in the valley that provides a traditional Montessori education. In addition, it's the only private school with a focus on bilingual instruction. Students enjoy a low teacher-student ratio, project-based learning, individual instruction, and a host of exceptional learning activities.
